Village Of Montgomery Lends A Helping Hand In Oglesby

Public Works crews assisted the Village with storm damage cleanup after the Aug. 10 derecho.

The City of Oglesby near LaSalle/Peru was one of many areas in Illinois that suffered severe wind and storm damage from thunderstorms on August 10th. Because of the heavy damage, the City of Oglesby sent out a message to surrounding communities using the Illinois Public Works Mutual Aid Network (IPWMAN) asking for help with storm damage clean-up.

The Village of Montgomery volunteered to help and sent Public Works staff members Eric Brown, Owen Thomas, Ed Pfaff, Jon Erb and Aaron Miller to Oglesby along with a chipper, large dump truck and chain saws. Commenting on the experience Eric Brown stated, β€œIt was a great feeling to help a neighboring area in need. I felt a sense of pride when we arrived in all the Montgomery vehicles ready to help the Oglesby community and get the streets and City cleaned as quickly as possible.”
