• Skokie nighttime residential fire sends woman, 84, to hospital (chicagotribune.com) — Morton Grove firefighters were among several neighboring departments that rushed to help contain a serious apartment fire in Skokie that injured an 84-year-old woman and briefly displaced dozens of residents. Crews battled heavy smoke on the third floor near Old Orchard, contained the blaze to one unit within about 20 minutes, and later allowed most residents back while the cause and damage estimates remain under investigation.
