NAPERVILLE, IL — A Naperville man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison after he was convicted on drug-induced homicide charges in connection with the 2021 death of a 35-year-old Addison woman.

Courvoisier Thomas, 40, pleaded guilty in Sept. 2023 to one felony count of drug-induced homicide.

Addison police were called to a home on Blecke Avenue on Nov. 17, 2021, after they got a call that a woman had been found unresponsive. Responding officers reported having found baggies at the home that later tested positive for fentanyl and fluorofentanyl.

A $5 million arrest warrant was issued for Thomas in Feb. 2022 and he was taken into custody on Feb. 8, 2022.

“The loss of a young woman to illegal narcotics is a sad reminder of the heartbreak caused by drug dealers seeking to enrich their lives at the expense of others,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.

Berlin added, “To successfully rid our streets of illegal narcotics, we must not only continue educating the public about the potentially deadly consequences of drug use, we must also send a message to those who peddle this poison, such as Mr. Thomas, that they will pay a significant price for the death of anyone who dies as a result of ingesting narcotics they supplied. In this case, Mr. Thomas’ price tag is thirteen years behind bars."
