Bathroom Vent Fan To Blame For Fire In Naperville Home

NAPERVILLE, IL — A bathroom vent fan caused a fire to break out in a home on Quail Drive early Sunday. The blaze caused $30,000 in damage to the home, according to a news release.

Fire crews were called to the 400 block of Quail Drive just after 2 a.m. When firefighters got to the scene, they saw smoke coming from the two-story house. Two adults and two kids safely escaped the fire after hearing their smoke detector go off.

The fire had spread from the second floor bathroom's ceiling and into the attic. Crews extinguished the flames and created a hole in the roof of the house to allow smoke to vent.

The house was deemed to be uninhabitable.
