NAPERVILLE, IL — Members of Naperville's electoral board unanimously voted in favor of city council candidate Nag Jaiswal, whose nomination petition signatures for the 2025 consolidated election had been challenged.

The objection had been filed Nov. 4 by Dianne A. McGuire, Mark Vincent Urda and Nancy Hans Turner. The trio contended that Jaiswal's petition signatures had an improper heading, as they were labeled "For a Consolidated Primary Election to be held April 1, 2025," per the challenge.

"Stating the wrong election is not an appropriate heading," the objection asserted.

The objection also challenged the dates of the signatures Jaiswal had gathered, along with the validity of some of the signatures and some signer's addresses.

On Thursday, board members Mayor Scott Wehrli, Council Member Patrick Kelly and City Clerk Dawn Portner voted 3-0 in favor of overruling the objection.
