Nicor Gas Awards 23 Nonprofits Basic Needs Grants

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Dec. 18, 2025 – Nicor Gas is announcing $100,000 in grants awarded to support the basic needs of customers including food, clothing and shelter through community nonprofit organizations across its service territory.
“Nicor Gas is committed to strengthening our communities by providing basic needs grants that help ensure every neighbor has access to essentials,” said Jackie Nagel, manager of Community Engagement at Nicor Gas. “We’re committed to investing in the well-being and stability of the customers and communities we serve across our service territory.”
This year, Nicor Gas is awarding 23 organizations with grants up to $5,000 to support their basic needs programming including:
Cook County:
- Beyond Hunger - Provides food distribution services including direct food relief and support for the Supplemental Assistance Nutrition Program (SNAP) enrollment.
- Crisis Center for South Suburbia - Supports an emergency residential shelter for individuals and families impacted by domestic violence.
- Faith Feeds - Provides stationary and mobile food pantries and wraparound services for people in the Palatine region.
- Housing Forward - Supports emergency support services and shelter for people experiencing homelessness in West Suburban Cook County.
- Journeys the Road Home - Supports the HOPE Center, which provides access to essential resources as part of the on-site shelter program.
- Maine Township Foundation - Supports a grocery store shopping experience for families in need in Maine Township.
- WINGS Program - Provides emergency housing for women and children who have experienced domestic violence.
DeKalb County:
- Family Service Agency of DeKalb County, Inc. - Provides a Shelf-Help pantry, a senior essentials pantry and face-to-face hot meal service.
DuPage County:
- Assistance League Chicagoland West - Provides winter coats, hats and gloves to elementary schools that qualify for free or reduced lunch.
- CASA of DuPage - Provides support and advocacy for abused and neglected children who have been removed from unsafe home environments.
- Loaves and Fishes Community Services - Supports the food assistance program including client choice, curbside pickup, online ordering and food delivery.
- Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans - Provides clothing, hygiene products and other home necessities for veterans in need.
- People’s Resource Center - Supports a food pantry, clothing closet, homelessness prevention and referral services for essential needs.
Iroquois County:
- Watseka Area Food Pantry - Provides supplemental food and essential household items for families in need in Iroquois County.
Kane County:
- Aurora Interfaith Food Pantry - Provides food distribution through onsite distribution, deliveries to homebound residents and emergency “text for food” service.
- PADS of Elgin - Supports a comprehensive housing program including food, clothing and emergency housing support.
Livingston County:
- Flanagan Community Church - Supports families in crisis through financial aid to avoid eviction and to help pay utility bills.
- Streatorland Community Food Pantry - Provides high-quality nutritional support to families experiencing food insecurity.
McHenry County:
- D300 Food Pantry - Supports weekly food distribution services offering a wide range of healthy choices to families who reside in Community Unit School District 300 with school-aged children.
- Home of the Sparrow, Inc. - Supports a transitional shelter program for women and children experiencing homelessness.
Will County:
- Hands of Hope of Illinois - Provides food, clothing and other essential items to families in need in Will County.
- IL Partners in Hope - Delivers food to individuals and families facing hunger and food insecurity and supports a food waste diversion program for emergency food programs.
Winnebago County:
- Brightpoint - Provides emergency relief, housing and caretaking for young children during a family crisis.
