Burning Basement In Naperville's Burning Tree Lane

The Naperville fire saw no injuries, although the occupants' home is uninhabitable.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Two dozen fire fighters arrived at the 600 block of Burning Tree Lane Thursday morning to put out a fire in the basement of a home. The 911 call was made at 2:30 a.m. by the resident who was alerted by the smoke detector. Five minutes later, the first of the fire fighters arrived.

There, they saw "light smoke" from the outside, according to a press release from the Naperville Fire Department. There was more light smoke and fire in the basement. It was extinguished quickly with a hose, and although there were no injuries, enough damage was done to make the house uninhabitable.

When more fire fighters arrived, they turned their attention to salvage and overhaul. The American Red Cross was notified to provide assistance to the occupants.
