NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- At 12:33 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a 911 call from a resident reporting a fire in their neighbor’s single-family home. A general alarm was dispatched to the reported structure fire. A general alarm assignment consists of three engines, two ladder trucks, one squad, two ambulances and two shift commanders.

Within four minutes of the initial 911 call, Engine 4 arrived on scene, had heavy black smoke coming from roof and reported an attic fire burning through the roof. Engine 4 established command and quickly stretched a hose line to extinguish the fire.

The first truck on scene arrived shortly after, and put their main ladder pipe up to extinguish the main body of fire in attic area. Nobody was home at the time of the fire, and there was one animal in the house. Salvage and overhaul was performed on the interior and exterior of the house, along with smoke removal and extinguishment of any hidden fire.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department, Transportation, Engineering and Development Department (TED), NICOR, the Naperville Water Utility and The American Red Cross. The West Chicago Fire Protection District, Aurora Fire Department, and Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District provided coverage for Naperville fire stations during this incident. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians. Naperville Fire Investigators worked on scene to determine the cause of this fire.
