Ecstasy, Loaded Gun Seized In Traffic Stop In Naperville: Prosecutors

NAPERVILLE, IL — An Aurora man is accused of possessing a loaded gun and 16 grams of ecstasy during a traffic stop in Naperville Sunday.
Parion Lane, 23, of the 500 block of Superior Street, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a repeat felony offender, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and resisting a police officer in connection with the incident.
Prosecutors say officers saw Lane in the parking lot of a gas station near Ogden and Washington and noticed his license plate was expired. Police pulled Lane over near Main and 14th Streets.

They reported seeing Lane make "furtive movements towards the driver's side floorboard," a news release said. Lane is accused of getting out of the car and trying to flee on foot.
When police caught up to Lane, they say searched him and his car and reported finding a loaded Springfield 9mm handgun on the driver's side of the car. Lane is also accused of having 16 grams of ecstasy on him during the arrest.

“In DuPage County, we will continue our efforts to remove illegally possessed firearms from our streets before they can be used in the commission of a crime,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a news release. “As a convicted felon who is currently on parole, Mr. Lane has forfeited his right to legally possess a firearm. Consequently, if these allegations are proven true, he now finds himself facing a possible penalty of between six to thirty years in the Illinois Department of Corrections."
Lane is set to appear in court March 24.
