Furnace Catches Fire In Home On Catherine Avenue
Fire officials say a furnace malfunctioned and caught fire in a Naperville home Wednesday night.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A furnace fire broke out in a home in the 1100 block of Catherine Avenue Wednesday, causing some $50,000 in damage.
Crews were called to the home around 9:20 p.m. after they got a call reporting smoke in the home. The residents were evacuated and firefighters located the blaze in a furnace that was in a crawl space.
Fire officials say the flames were put out "within minutes of arrival."

It was determined that the furnace malfunctioned, which triggered the fire. The home's residents —two adults and three children— were uninjured, but were relocated in the wake of the fire, as the house was deemed uninhabitable.
