Gentle Pets with King Size Hearts Seeking Homes
Every week Naperville Patch shares a few of the adoptable pets waiting for homes at the Naperville Area Humane Society and Animals Deserving of Proper Treatment.
Phoebe is a 3-year-old American pit bull terrier mix that was a shelter transfer due to lack of space. She is a friendly but shy girl who does get along with other dogs, but should not live with cats. As she can be sensitive, kids in her new home should be at least 12 years old. She likes going for walks, playing with toys and sitting on a nice cushy lap. Phoebe has become a favorite at the shelter due to her gentle and kind nature. Stop by soon to meet Phoebe! She is patiently waiting for her new home.
Buckaroo is a 2-year-old domestic shorthair that was transferred from another shelter due to lack of space. He is an extremely gentle and friendly cat who gets along with dogs, cats, and kids of all ages. He is FIV positive, so a quiet home would be the best fit for him. Buckaroo is currently greeting customers in the front office. Once you meet him, it will be love at first sight!
More dogs and cats are available at the Naperville Area Humane Society. All the animals have been examined for health and temperament, started on their vaccines and microchipped. They are spayed and neutered at adoption. Hours are 5 to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays, 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Visit us at 1620 W. Diehl in Naperville or online at www.napervilleareahumanesociety.org.

Breed: Labrador retriever
Background: Bailey was originally adopted from A.D.O.P.T. as a young puppy, but somehow ended up at Milwaukee Animal Control. His owner did not come get him. Thankfully his microchip was tracked back to us and we were able to save him from being euthanized.
Personality: Although Bailey is considered a senior dog he’s still quite active. He is a friendly dog who LOVES people. He has good doggie manners and is housetrained. Bailey has been through enough after being uprooted again at 10 years old and we would really like for his next home to appreciate how special he is and keep him forever.
Adoption fee: $175

Tonka
Age: 2-1/2 years old
Breed: Male - gray tabby
Background: Tonka came to A.D.O.P.T. in April 2012 when his owner could no longer care for him.
Personality: Tonka is kind of king size - but he's got a heart to match. He is a two paw declaw that will purr up a storm when he cuddles up next to you. His brother Ryder was adopted and he is awaiting his forever home. During the day he is roaming the halls, trying to lose a few pounds - otherwise he can be found in the Sun Room. What a handsome boy - and he is waiting for you!
Adoption Fee: $100
Other: All animals at A.D.O.P.T. are vet checked, spayed or neutered, micro-chipped and are up to date on age related vaccines.
