Here's How to Install a 1500-Pound Statue of Naperville's Founder
The bronze statue, which stands at nearly 10 feet tall and took several years to complete, honors Naperville's founder Capt. Joseph Naper.

Cars slowed and heads turned Friday afternoon near Mill Street and Jefferson Avenue as city crews installed a 1,500-pound statue of Naperville's founder, Capt. Joseph Naper.
The bronze statue, which stands at nearly 10 feet tall and took several years to complete, now rests at Naper Homestead, located at the southeast corner of Mill Street and Jefferson Avenue.
A portion of Mill Street was closed Friday as crews used a large crane to maneuver the statue into place.
The unveiling and special dedication of the statue will take place at 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23 at Naper Homestead.
