Kennedy Middle School Gets Blue Ribbon Designation From Pritzker
The Naperville school was among 15 public schools in the state to be named a 2025 Illinois Governor's Blue Ribbon School.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Kennedy Junior High School was among just 15 public schools in Illinois to be named a 2025 Illinois Governor's Blue Ribbon School in the distinction's inaugural year. The initiative was launched following the Trump administration's dissolution of the National Blue Ribbon School's Program in September.
In total, 28 schools were given the distinction throughout Illinois for their student achievements and exemplary performance.
“At a moment when quality education is more important than ever, we will never abandon our pursuit of academic excellence or recognition of the teachers and students doing the hard work every day," Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker shared in a statement.

He added, “Illinois will always strive to give our students and schools the tools and support they need to succeed. Nothing is more important than our children, and education is the foundation of strong communities, the stability of our democracy, and the health of our economy.”
Kennedy Junior High School Principal Patrick Gaskin said the honor was a "powerful affirmation that our mission to foster self-directed learners and complex thinkers is succeeding." He added, "This award belongs to every teacher, staff member, student, and family who has dedicated themselves to a culture of excellence. We are honored to serve as a model for educational achievement in Illinois.”

As an Illinois Governor's Blue Ribbon School, Kennedy Junior High School is invited to a ceremony at The Governor's Mansion in spring 2026.
