NAPERVILLE, IL — Two Naperville men face felony charges after police say they attacked a man and then broke into an apartment in the 1500 block of W. Jefferson Avenue early Thanksgiving morning.

Daggio Castillo, 22, of the 2500 block of Oneida Lane, and Jeremy Gundlach, 21, of the 100 block of Testa Drive, were charged with aggravated battery and home invasion in connection with the incident.

Police were called to the apartment complex just after 1 a.m. for a report of a home invasion. Prosecutors say Castillo and Gundlach initially confronted a man outside whom they had "been communicating" with earlier. They are accused of getting into a fight with the man, who sustained a broken nose and other fractures.

Castillo and Gundlach are further accused of kicking open a door to break into another apartment. Police say they then threatened the person inside.

“The type of senseless, violent attack that sent an innocent man to the hospital with serious facial injuries, as alleged in this case, has no place in civilized society and will not be tolerated in DuPage County,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement. “The victim in this case has a long road to recovery ahead of him and I wish him well as he recovers both physically and emotionally.”

Gundlach and Castillo are currently being held in DuPage County Jail and are set to appear in court on Dec. 18.
