NAPERVILLE, IL — A man who was out on parole for a prior weapons charge was recently arrested in connection with a trio of armed robberies at banks in Naperville, Addison and Woodridge this July.

Kenneth Eggleston, 30, is being held on charges of armed robbery with a firearm, armed violence, attempted armed robbery with a firearm, financial institution robbery, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen motor vehicle and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.

On July 21, two men entered the BMO Harris Bank located at 1355 West Lake St., Addison. Police say the men demanded everyone in the building get on the ground. One man then jumped over the counter and demanded a teller give them money from their drawer, just before taking money from the vault at gunpoint, per police. In total $172,152 was reported stolen.

According to police, two men tried to rob the BMO Harris Bank located at 2413 75th St. in Woodridge on July 28. While armed and masked, the men demanded that the bank's security guard let them into the bank. The guard did not comply and the men fled in a red Infiniti Q50 that had been linked to the Naperville and Addison robberies, according to a news release.

Later that morning, police spotted over a speeding Infiniti Q50 on I-294 near the exit for I-55. A police helicopter helped track the car to the 11000 block of Wallace Street in Chicago.

Prosecutors say officers spotted Eggleston standing in front of the car holding a backpack, which he then dropped before trying to flee. Eggleston was taken into custody and released.

He was arrested again on Nov. 3 in connection with a previous warrant and has remained in custody.

“Violent gun crimes, as alleged in this case, will not be tolerated in DuPage County and will be met with the full force and effect of the law,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.

He added, “We are all very grateful that no employees or customers at the banks were physically harmed during these alleged robberies. The apprehension of the first of several individuals who allegedly committed these crimes sends the message that we will use all tools available to us, including assistance from the federal government and air support if necessary to hold accountable anyone suspected of this type of behavior."

Eggleston is set to appear in court on Nov. 13.
