Naperville: 5th Avenue Development Progress Update

City of Naperville makes progress with 5th Avenue Development.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A committee that oversees the development of 5th Avenue will meet Friday to give a monthly update, plan community outreach and share what they've learned from public input. Certain properties in the area are being re imagined, and now a developer, Ryan Companies, is guiding the city through. This includes engaging the community throughout the planning phase.

The 5th Avenue Development consists of eight city-owned parcels on just over thirteen acres surrounding the Naperville train station, according to the project's website. Ryan will meet with city staff Friday at the Naperville Municipal Center, Meeting room B, and 11 a.m. to discuss the following:

  • Survey results from 510 participants. This will include a discussion on security and integrity of the survey
  • Community outreach, which includes a recap of 16 one-on-one meetings, hundreds of emails and upcoming resident meetings
  • Steering committee (interest forms are due Dec. 22)
  • Discussion on commuter strategy (a big portion of survey responses came from commuters)
  • Recap of 9 group input sessions, which included area residents, commuters and business owners
