Naperville Fire Leaves Three Apartments Units Uninhabitable

Adults and kids got out before the firefighters arrived.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Two dozen firefighters responded Thursday morning to a smoldering fire on a third-floor balcony of a Naperville apartment. Officials received a call from the unit’s tenant around 8:39 a.m. Six minutes later, the first of ten pieces of fire apparatus arrived at the 1500 block of Fairway Drive in the Longwood subdivision.

A press release from the Fire Department said smoke wasn’t visible from the outside upon arrival, but there was light smoke coming from the balcony once they got inside. There was also a smoldering fire in the floor. It was immediately extinguished, followed by salvage and overhaul operations in the second and third floors.

Four adults and two children exited their apartments prior to the arrival of the fire department, and three units have been deemed uninhabitable. Red Cross provided assistance to the victims.
