Naperville Man Arrested, Charged In Connection With 2021 Incident
Levell Leflore faces felony firearms charges in connection with a incident in which shots were fired from a car in a Naperville parking lot.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A 27-year-old Naperville man has been arrested and charged in connection with a 2021 incident in which shots were reported fired and shell casings were found in a local parking lot, the DuPage County State’s Attorney announced.
Levell Dewayne Leflore faces felony charges of possession of a firearm while on parole and reckless discharge of a firearm, officials said. Leflore is currently in custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections on an unrelated charge.
Leflore was arrested in connection with an incident last September when Naperville Police were called to the 300 block of East Bailey Road for a report of shots fired, officials said. Shell cases were located in a parking lot but no one was injured, police said. An investigation determined that shots were fired from a dark sedan that was driving through the parking lot and that left before police arrived, DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said Thursday..

“I think it’s important for the community to understand that, although we would like every case to be closed right away, solving crimes and securing charges doesn’t always happen quickly. However, that doesn’t mean it’s not a high priority for us and I can promise you we don’t give up,” Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres said in a statement issued Thursday. “This particular individual was actually arrested the day after the incident on a separate charge, but there was evidence to gather, interviews to conduct and processes to go through in order to obtain charges for the discharge of the firearm.”
Ares said that police recently reported that the number of shootings that took place in Naperville was higher than in previous years. Ares said he hopes arrests like the one made this way reassure local residents that police are continuing to handle reported cases and that the department will be relentless in pursuit of suspects involved in incidents and plan to hold them accountable.

"As a convicted felon on parole, there is no reason whatsoever that would allow Mr. Leflore to be in possession of a firearm, as alleged in this case,” Berlin said. “I commend the Naperville Police Department for their outstanding work that led to the identification and apprehension of the defendant in this case and for their ongoing efforts to keep our communities safe.”
