Naperville Runners Have a Gobble Good Time

The sun may have been hiding, but that didn't matter much to the more than 7,000 runners who showed up at Naperville Central Thursday morning ready to run.

The Naperville Noon Lions Turkey Trot was sold out and 7,700 runners registered for the race, said Paul Rewerts of the Noon Lions. He said things went pretty well, except there were more runners than T-shirts and some racers didn't get their shirt this year. 

Money raised from the 5K race goes toward programs to help those with sight and hearing disorders, diabetes as well as those in need in the Naperville area.

Crowds filled the gym at prior to the race and there was barely room to move. 

Some runners sported fashionable turkey hats while others wore full turkey costumes. Other runners wore brightly colored tights, while most runners just wore standard gear. 

Families and friends came together for a fun morning run followed by a pancake breakfast catered by . This year the breakfast was held in the Naperville Central cafeteria, which provided better space to eat and actually sit.
