NAPERVILLE, IL — A 41-year-old Naperville woman accused of stealing from Walmart and Nordstrom Rack over the summer has had her pretrial release revoked by a DuPage County judge after prosecutors say she stole more than $1,600 in merchandise from a Home Depot store.

Prosecutors said police responded to a report of retail theft at Home Depot, 2920 Audrie Lane, just after 6 p.m. Oct. 29. Police said Florence Twu, of the 800 block of Huntleigh Drive, placed more than 50 items totaling $1,630 in her backpack and a shopping cart and left without paying. Officials said the merchandise included home repair items, tools and clothing.

Prosecutors also allege that when she was confronted by a loss prevention officer, Twu left the shopping cart and ran to her car, where she was apprehended by Naperville police.

"Judge McPherson’s order to revoke pretrial release and order Ms. Twu be detained pending trial sends a crystal-clear message that conditions of pretrail release are not optional," State's Attorney Robert Berlin said. "Those conditions are an order of the court and must be respected. In DuPage County, if you are granted conditional pretrial release and violate those conditions, my office will do everything we can to ensure your future compliance with orders of the Court up to and including detention pending trial. I commend the Naperville Police Department for their work on this case and for their ongoing efforts in keeping our businesses and patrons safe."
