Operation KidSafe Offers Parents Vital Information Needed in an Emergency
An inkless fingerprinting event will be held on Friday and Saturday at Village Buick-GMC.

Parents concerned about child safety have the opportunity to attend an event this weekend, which will provide documentation in case of an emergency.
On Friday and Saturday Operation KidSafe will be at , 1585 W. Ogden Ave. Fingerprinting teams will be available to provide documentation at the free event.
Consulting law enforcement officials and the FBI, Operation KidSafe created a system to document vital information about a child, which parents take with them and retain.

The Operation KidSafe team captures the fingerprints of the thumb and forefinger of each child’s hand along with a full digital head and shoulder photograph. The fingerprinting system is done digitally and without ink, according to Operation KidSafe.
Parents who attend the events leave with the hard copy, which they have for safe keeping, according to Operation KidSafe. The only record of the visit is the information the parents retain. No information is kept in a database.

In case of an emergency situation parents who call 911 have the information available and can share it with police, who are instructed on the actions to take, according to Operation KidSafe.
During the visit, parents and children can also learn safety tips to avoid dangerous situations. A staff member is also available to answer questions.
Operation KidSafe will be held Friday and Saturday at Village Buick-GMC, 1585 W. Ogden Ave. Hours are Friday, noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
