Property Crimes Increase, Crimes Against People Decrease In Naperville
Naperville recently released its 2023 crime statistics, showing an increase in burglaries and car thefts.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Property crimes have increased and personal crimes have decreased in Naperville over the past year, according to the city's 2023 crime statistics.
Between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2023, Naperville police responded to 81 reports of stolen cars. This reflects an increase of 61 percent over 2022, when 50 vehicle thefts were reported.
Burglaries were also on the rise in 2023, with 111 residential and commercial burglaries reported last year, compared to 83 in 2022. Car burglaries were up from 137 in 2022 to 140 in 2023.

According to the 2023 crime statistics report, 67 percent of Naperville's residential burglaries were committed against homes that had been left unlocked.
Crimes against people deceased slightly, according to the 2023 report. No murders were reported in Naperville in 2023, and incidences of simple assault decreased by near 20 percent when compared to 2022's numbers.
