Queensgreen Stand Off Ends Peacefully Thursday Night

A well-being check turned into a three-and-a-half-hour incident involving , SWAT teams and snipers, but it ended peacefully at about 10 p.m. 

Naperville police were called to a home on Queensgreen Circle at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday to make a well-being check, said Cmdr. Brian Cunningham. 

“It took a while to make contact with the person,” Cunningham said. 

While police were attempting to make contact, some residents were asked to evacuate their homes, according to Melanie Parker, a nearby resident who alerted Naperville Patch to the incident. 

Residents in the Terraces of Brookdale subdivision were asked to remain indoors during the incident and snipers were located around the subdivision, Parker said. 

During the ordeal, Parker was unable to find out what was happening. She said she became concerned for her safety after being prohibited from taking her dogs outside and repeatedly motioned away from her windows by an officer crouching behind a tree in her yard.

A command center was set up at . Several SWAT vehicles, Naperville fire and police cars were on site.

The incident, which police attributed to a "mental health issue," ended peacefully.

“There were no issues and everyone was safe," Cunningham said.
