Racial Slur On Instagram Video: Naperville North High School Investigating

A student used a racial slur for black people

Naperville North High School is investigating a video of a student using a racial slur posted to Instagram on Sunday, according to NBC 5 Chicago.

“The students involved and their parents have met with school administration to discuss the matter,” Michelle Fregoso, Naperville District 203 Spokeswoman, told NBC 5. “There will be consequences, however we do not as a matter of school district policy discuss student discipline.”

One video that had over 45,000 views by late Monday evening appeared to be the one referenced by the school. Some Twitter users shared the video with remarks of disapproval.

The other girl gasped and said "I have black people on Snapchat." Snapchat is a social media platform that uses short video messages.

"Oh, well, hi actual n-----s," was the first girl's response.

Both girls appear to laugh in the video.

Naperville North student Mariama Kollie posted the video on her Twitter account with the message, "If you condone this type of behavior please unfollow me." Kollie went to the dean's office on Monday morning.

“I might be labeled as an angry black girl but that’s fine, because I know that was wrong and I could use my voice to say something,” Kollie told NBC 5.

Last week, Yorkville High School responded to racist remarks made on Twitter by two students.
