Robert Burns Dinner Includes Poetry, Whiskey and All Things Scottish
The Rotary Club of Naperville-Sunrise is hosting its second annual Robert Burns Supper at the Mayslake Peabody Estate on Friday night.
Take a trip to the Scottish highlands without leaving the country and help raise funds for international development programs.
The Rotary Club of Naperville-Sunrise is hosting its second annual Robert Burns Supper. So grab a kilt, a tam and prepare for a night of revelry. Because as Mike Meyers said, “If it’s not Scottish, it’s crap!”
The dinner will be held on Jan. 20 and the money raised with be used to fund the Rotary Club’s international programs. The event will be held in honor of Robert Burns’ birthday, in the time-honored manner practiced by the Scots themselves and Burns fans throughout the world, according to a news release from the Rotary Club of Naperville-Sunrise.

Those who attend the event, which will be held Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook, are encouraged to wear traditional Scottish attire, including tartan.
The evening will include Scottish pipers, dancer, poetry, humorous recitations, toasts, a whiskey tasting and a dramatic presentation of the haggis, according to the news release. Of course, there will be singing of Auld Lang Syne.

Belgio’s will be preparing the traditional menu including cock-a-leekie Soup, haggis, neeps and Champs tatties, beef and trimmings, pudding and cheese and biscuits.
Funds raised at the dinner will be used to toward international projects including clean water, health and humanitarian efforts in Haiti and Zambia, according to the Rotary Club. The club has helped provide training, provisions and supplies toward the construction of a school in Tikondane Community Centre in Zambia, as well as assisting with clean water and electrification projects in Duchity, Haiti, among other initiatives.
The event will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 20 at the Mayslake Peabody Estate, 1717 W. 31st St., Oak Brook, IL 60523. Tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased on the Rotary Club of Naperville Sunrise's website.
