NAPERVILLE, IL — A man has been charged in connection with the 2022 Bolingbrook shooting death of Eric Stubblefield, 48, of Naperville.

Sammy Gibson, 58, was taken into custody in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and was transferred to the custody of the Will County Adult Detention Facility on Wednesday, Bolingbrook Police said.
Gibson is facing charges of first-degree murder and concealment of a homicide.

Stubblefield was found dead inside a vehicle in a parking lot in the 600 block of West Boughton Road last year with multiple gunshot wounds. Forensic evidence obtained by Detectives and Crime Scene Technicians was submitted to the crime laboratory within two weeks of the incident.

"Detectives were steadfast in their efforts and relentlessly pursued the case while awaiting results from the crime laboratory," police said in a release.

Crime lab results were received in October, and detectives presented the case before Will County Associate Judge James Harvey and obtained an arrest warrant for two counts of first degree murder and one count of concealment of a homicide, police said.
