Time Capsule, Dedication Ceremony To Celebrate 150-Year Anniversary Of Oswald's Pharmacy

Residents can see the items to be included in the time capsule, which will be sealed in the pharmacy's original home on Jefferson.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A time capsule will be sealed into the original building that housed Oswald's Pharmacy when it opened on Jefferson Avenue 150 years ago. The pharmacy has planned a dedication ceremony for Sept. 26 and a customer appreciation day for Sept. 27 to celebrate its history in Naperville.

Residents can see the items to be included in the time capsule to the dedication ceremony, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the 822 W. Gartner Rd. store. Also on display will be artifacts from Oswald Pharmacy's long history in the city.

The event will feature brief remarks from Naperville Mayor Scott Wehrli, Illinois State Representative Janet Yang Rohr and Illinois State Senator Laura Ellman.

On Sept. 27, the first 150 customers to visit will get a goodie bag. Many items are set to be discounted at up to 30 percent and raffles will be held during the customer appreciation event.

Customers can also take home a piece...or pieces of Oswald's Pharmacy buy ordering a special collage puzzle in honor of the 150th anniversary.

Oswald's Pharmacy opened in 1875 at 39 W. Jefferson Ave. The family-owned pharmacy is now in its sixth generation of owners.
