Weapon Seized In 4th Gun-Related Arrest At TopGolf Since September

NAPERVILLE, IL — A man was arrested and a gun was seized at TopGolf in Naperville Wednesday, marking the fourth gun-related arrest at the location since September. Police say the increased arrests come amid officers proactively patrolling for guns throughout the city.
Cornelius Clark, Jr., 35, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon in connection with the Oct. 24 incident.
Commander Michaus Williams told Patch a Naperville police officer saw a gun "in plain view" inside Clark's car in the parking lot of the 3211 Odyssey Ave. complex. He added that Clark was taken into custody without incident and that his FOID was revoked.

In early October, an Indiana man was arrested at TopGolf after police say they found a machine gun in his car. Just days before that, a man was arrested on similar gun charges in the TopGolf parking lot.
The gun-related incidents at TopGolf trace back to Sept. 11, when a man was accused of having a loaded gun and narcotics in his vehicle.

Williams told Patch, "[O]ur officers have taken the self-initiative to be proactive, especially when it comes to locating illegal firearms. This location is not the only spot in the city where firearms are being recovered, but officers will gravitate to the places where themselves or others have had past success."
