The following information is from the New Lenox Police Department. An arrest or charge is not an indication of guilt.


June 24

  • Jordan N. Slate-Smith, 26, of New Lenox, was charged with driving while license suspended. According to police reports, an officer on patrol in the area of U.S. Route 30 and Cedar Road saw Slate-Smith's vehicle in traffic with expired registration. The officer conducted a traffic stop and learned that Slate-Smith had a suspended driver’s license. Slate-Smith was arrested and taken to the NLPD. Slate-Smith posted bond and was released.

  • James Moore Jr., 29, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery and retail theft. According to police reports, an officer was dispatched to the 7-Eleven at 1101 W. Laraway Road for a report of retail theft. Upon arrival, the officer learned that Moore stole a bottle of vodka from the store. Officers found Moore a short distance away. When approached by officers, Moore threw the bottle of vodka at one of the officers. Moore was arrested and taken to the NLPD. While at the NLPD and during processing, Moore punched an officer in the face. Moore was transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
  • Leopoldo Rodriguez-Herrera, 49, of Crest Hill, was arrested for having an in-state warrant. According to police reports, an officer was dispatched to Red Wing Shoes at 208 Maple St. for a report of a suspicious person. Upon arrival, the officer met with the Rodriguez-Herrera and learned that he had two active warrants for his arrest. Rodriguez Herrera was arrested and taken to the NLPD. Rodriguez-Herrera posted bond and was released.

June 27

  • Travis P. Clancy, 31, of Monee, was charged with driving while license suspended. According to police reports, an officer on patrol in the area of U.S. Route 6 and Cedar Crossings Drive saw Clancy's vehicle with several equipment violations in traffic. The officer conduced a traffic stop and learned that Clancy had a suspended driver’s license. Clancy was arrested and taken to the NLPD. Clancy posted bond and was released.

  • Isis A. Rodriguez-Merino, 23, of Joliet, was charged with driving while license suspended. According to police reports, an officer on patrol in the area of U.S. Route 30 and Cedar Road saw Rodriguez-Merino's vehicle with a registration violation. The officer conduced a traffic stop and learned that Rodriguez-Merino had a suspended driver’s license. Rodriguez-Merino was arrested and taken to the NLPD. Rodriguez-Merino posted bond and was released.

July 1

  • Dijon A. Jones, 24, of Matteson, was charged with driving while license suspended. According to police reports, an officer on patrol in the area of Laraway Road and Cedar Road saw Jones' vehicle with a registration violation. The officer conduced a traffic stop and learned that Jones had a suspended driver’s license and a valid arrest warrant from Will County. Jones was arrested and taken to the NLPD. Jones posted bond and was released.
