New Lenox Woman Price Swapped At Target Self-Checkout In Repeat Retail Thefts: NLPD
The woman used barcodes from low-priced items to buy more expensive ones, employees told police.
NEW LENOX, IL — A New Lenox woman was charged with retail theft/burglary Tuesday, after police said she repeatedly price-swapped items at Target over several days.
On Dec. 15, Target New Lenox employees called police to report that a woman had been seen in the self-checkout using barcodes from lower priced items to purchase higher value items. The employee told police that the same woman had been linked to similar instances on Dec. 2, Dec. 6, Dec. 11, and Dec. 13, for a total loss to Target of $454.
A day later, police were again called to the store for a similar report. An employee told police they had seen a woman, then identified as Grazina Tilvikaite-Johnson, 40, of New Lenox, using low-dollar price tags to ring up bedding and clothing items. Tilvikaite-Johnson scanned $8.29 worth of merchandise, but the actual retail value was $109, the employee told police.
