Hazmat Spill Closes Lanes On I-80: Illinois State Police

State troopers were dealing with an incident on eastbound I-80, police said.

NEW LENOX, IL — All eastbound lanes of I-80 were closed at Briggs Street, as state police worked to clean up a hazardous materials spill Wednesday morning.

A preliminary investigation indicates troopers were called to the location for a report of a commercial motor vehicle that caused diesel fuel to spill onto the roadway, state police told Patch.

Multiple resources were being used to mitigate the spill, and cleanup efforts were underway.
