Lincoln-Way 210 BOE Announces Remediation Plans

"These plans are the direct result of our teachers' collaboration and commitment to student learning," said Dr. Aimee Feehery.

NEW LENOX, IL—Following months of remote learning due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Lincoln-Way 210 Board of Education is exploring remediation plans for students who may need a refresher course in content or skills not adequately learned via a computer at home.

At its June 18 meeting, the Lincoln-Way 210 Board of Education was presented with a Core Curriculum Gap Assessment and Remediation Plans.

According to the BOE, after remote learning ended on May 22, Lincoln-Way 210 teachers and department chairs all met in core course groups, either in person (per guidelines) or remotely, on May 26, 27, and 28. The overarching goal for these meetings was to determine and address any course or departmental gaps for fall 2020, school officials said.

Overall, school officials said most course groups were able to determine where curricular gaps will occur and were able to create “bridge,” “gap,” “Unit 0,” or “Unit 4.1” type units to address what content or skills were not adequately learned by students due to remote learning and the guidelines that were in place per the Illinois State Board of Education.

“These plans are the direct result of our teachers’ collaboration and commitment to student learning,” said Dr. Aimee Feehery, Director of Curriculum and Instruction. “By addressing the possible gaps in our curriculum, we will be able to take corrective actions to realign our curriculum and assure that our students are reaching the goals of
their next course.”
