Winner of the Knight Idol contest was Dana Gilbertsen, singing “Dog Days Are Over” and “Wide Awake.” Additional contestants were Marykate Bauer, singing “Rolling in the Deep”; and Colin Uthe singing “She’s so High.”

Spirited performances were given by the Lincoln-Way Central Cheerleaders and Rhythm Knights, and the 110-member strong Marching Knights Band.

The Homecoming Pep Rally began with the presentation of the colors by the Central JROTC guard, with the National Anthem played by the Marching Knights.

The Lincoln-Way Central Homecoming 2012 kicked off on Sept. 23 with the fourth annual Homecoming Parade from noon to 1 p.m.

Over 700 students, faculty, staff, and school board members including vice-president Chris Kosel, secretary Kevin Molloy, and board member Dee Molinare were involved in the procession that included athletic teams, academic teams, employee groups, school clubs and activities, and the award-winning Marching Knights.

The parade participants gathered at Martino Junior High to begin at noon. The route proceeded down Joliet Highway to Schoolhouse Road, and ended at Lincoln-Way Central High School.

“The homecoming parade is an opportunity to bring the community and high school together. It is a time to celebrate and recognize the students, faculty, and programs in our district, and to thank the community for all its support. The kids were so excited to see all the spectators along the parade route, with their chairs set out, standing and waving to support them. This is the best parade we’ve ever had,” noted Provis, principal, and a member of the Lincoln-Way graduating class of 1986.
