Man Spotted Peeking In Cars In Manhattan Caught In Midst Of Car Burglary In New Lenox: Police

The incident happened in the early morning hours Nov. 18, police said.

NEW LENOX, IL — New Lenox police interrupted a car burglary early Tuesday morning, after a man matching the suspect's description was also spotted peering into cars in Manhattan hours earlier.

Police were called to the 1500 block of Knight Avenue just before 4 a.m., for a report of a suspicious man seen walking through the neighborhood alone and carrying a backpack. Police arrived and saw the man partially inside of a vehicle.

An officer attempted to stop the man, but he fled on foot and could not be found. He reportedly made off with two old wallets containing nothing of value, police said.
