New Lenox CERT Team Head 'An Outstanding Leader,' Truly Cares

NEW LENOX, IL — Without community leaders, New Lenox wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to recognize these often unsung community leaders and celebrate their contributions.

This submission comes from Mary Beth Hastings and Cathy Hartney, a New Lenox reader who nominated Dan Martin.

How do you know this community leader?

Dan is the Safety Community Coordinator of the New Lenox Community Emergency Response Team. We are members of the team.

What does this community leader do?

A former police chief, Dan Martin went on to lead the New Lenox Certified Emergency Response Team. He has since trained over 500 C.E.R.T. volunteers to date. He has provided volunteers for so many community functions such as movie nights in the park, Triple Play concerts, Christmas in the Commons, National Night Out, Play Day in the Commons just to name a few.

Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored?

Dan still is an outstanding leader.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero?

Dan truly cares about helping people and teaching those who want to help their community, too.
