NEW LENOX, IL — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Lisa O’Gara who nominated Maggie O’Gara of New Lenox.

How do you know the star local student?

My daughter

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

My daughter Maggie lights up every room—and stage! She has been doing musical theatre and singing at local community events for the last five years. She has been Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, Annie in Annie, and Cruella in 101 Dalmatians. Besides that, she is an avid horseback rider and a straight A student. She is always supportive of her friends and always wants to make everyone happy by sharing her beautiful voice.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

She loves to perform, and loves to cover Carrie Underwood songs!

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Maggie!
