NEW LENOX, IL — If you've been paying attention, you might know what we're talking about.

Or maybe you just casually noticed a little something popping up in village visuals. Not sure what to make of it, but hey, you saw it. Didn't anyone else see it, too? Truth be told, there's been a bunch of 'em, "left all over the place," Mayor Tim Baldermann said.

Either way, the Village says you're in for a pretty chill surprise.

Every year, the Village upgrades its Christmas in the Commons display—this year they’re using their budget for something special.

The incredible display of lights returns, featuring giant ornaments, glowing characters, and of course the adored 40-foot tall lighted Santa Claus. He might even be bringing a friend this year.

We won't spoil the surprise, but we will let you know when it will be formally unveiled (hopefully that's sooner than later because we're preeeetty bad at keeping secrets, Mayor Baldermann).

Christmas in the Commons kicks off Dec. 6.

More to come on that, but save the dates:

  • Dec. 6-7
  • Dec. 13–14
  • Dec. 20-21
