NEW LENOX, IL — A man who was found shirtless in the woods by police and accused of walking into a stranger's home and wrestling with its owner now faces charges, New Lenox Police said Thursday.

The incident unfolded in the Bluestone Bay subdivision, when police were called to Bluestone Bay and Westwind drives just after 2 p.m. Oct. 2, police told Patch.

A caller told police that a man—later identified as Michael Kadar, 35, of New Lenox—with a "ripped shirt was crawling on his hands and knees into the woods," according to the police. Police arrived and saw the man, who then ducked into the woods and took off his shirt, according to officials.

Police tried to speak with the man, but say he fled behind homes on Bimini Lane. At that point, police said he entered a home through an open garage, and was confronted by the homeowner.

Inside, the homeowner encountered Kadar, in their kitchen, according to police. Kadar had grabbed a breaker bar—a heavy steel bar used in car repairs—from inside the garage, the homeowner told Patch.

Police say the homeowner wrestled with Kadar, who threw the bar at him, then ran out of the house with the homeowner on his heels. Kadar did not say anything while inside the home, only grunting at times, the homeowner told police.

Police say officers saw Kadar running down the street, with the homeowner in pursuit. Officers were able to detain Kadar,, who they said appeared to be having a crisis or medical episode. He was taken by ambulance to Silver Cross Hospital for treatment. He was unable to communicate, police said, and required ongoing medical care. Due to the circumstances, Kadar, was not arrested at the time

On Oct. 3, police obtained an arrest warrant for Kadar, for charges of residential burglary (a felony), criminal trespass to residence, and criminal damage to property (misdemeanors). He was taken into custody Oct. 9 after he was medically cleared from a care facility, police said.
