New Lenox Man, 62, Threatened Woman With Hunting Knife During Fight: New Lenox Police

The incident happened Friday night on Hawthorne Lane.

NEW LENOX, IL — A New Lenox man has been charged with aggravated assault, after police said he pulled a knife on a woman during an argument, according to police reports.

Police were called Friday just before 9:30 p.m., to the 100 block of Hawthorne Lane. A victim told police that they'd been arguing with a man, identified as 62-year-old Gordon Kessel, when Kessel allegedly pulled out a large hunting knife "within a few inches" of the victim, while threatening their safety.

The complainant left the residence and called police afterward. The victim was not injured and did not require medical attention.

Kessel was taken into custody and transported to the New Lenox Police Department. He was later transferred to the Will County Jail. He was released the next day, with a next court date set for Dec. 15, according to court records.
