New Lenox PD To Host National Night Out Tuesday

The annual free event features plenty of entertainment and activities.

NEW LENOX, IL — The New Lenox Police Department is scheduled to host its annual National Night Out from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Village Commons.

The free event will feature family-friendly entertainment and activities, including trucks and vehicles to explore, as well as free hot dogs and popcorn.

There are also raffles scheduled for bicycles, a grill and more items, according to a Facebook post by the NLPD.

National Night Out began in 1984 through a network of approximately 400 communities across 23 states, according to information on the National Association of Town Watch website. Over the last 38 years, the program has grown to include about 16,000 communities across all 50 states, including 126 communities in Illinois.

A portion of Veterans Parkway will be closed during the event. Limited street parking will be available. Additional parking will be available in the south lot of the Village Hall, at Old Plank Trail Community Bank and at Trinity Services.

Attendees are asked not to park in the New Lenox Public Library lot.

As a reminder, no smoking is permitted in the event area, and no pets are permitted in the Village Commons during Village events.
