NEW LENOX, IL — New Lenox police on Friday afternoon debunked social media rumors of an attempted kidnapping or ICE arrest outside a local restaurant.
Police issued a statement as reports of the incident, alleged to have taken place outside of Chili's, 2390 E. Lincoln Highway, on Friday morning continued to spread. One report includes an allegation of three men putting a bag over someone's head and forcing them into a car.
"There is no credence to the reports that the incident was a kidnapping or an ICE arrest," New Lenox police said on social media. "One person was arrested for violating an order of protection. No one was injured, all parties are safe, and no further police action is being taken."
