New Lenox Sixth Grader A Star On Stage, In School and Friendships

NEW LENOX, IL — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Lisa Figlewski who nominated Alyssa, grade 6, of New Lenox.

She is my daughter

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Ally is amazing! She has always been a performer, singing and dancing any chance she gets. Ally has performed in several musical theater productions, including Annie, Elf Jr., The Jungle Book and The Wizard of Oz. This summer, she will be in two theater productions, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. She is also an amazing dancer and has loved taking dance lessons since she was 3.
All is also an amazing student. She is in GATE classes at school, and an avid reader.

Most importantly, Alyssa is an amazing, loyal, and kind friend. Above all else, that is what makes us most proud as her parents.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Ally is dedicated, loyal, and kind. Whatever she decides to do, she gives it her all and shines each step of the way.
