New Lenox Woman Walks Home After Hitting Hydrant, Charged With DUI: PD

NEW LENOX, IL — A New Lenox woman was charged with DUI late Tuesday, after crashing into a fire hydrant near her home.

Dena Trudeau, 46, of the 700 block of Sojourn Road, reportedly hit the hydrant, got out of her car and walked home prior to police arriving on the scene, according to New Lenox Police Chief Louis Alessandrini.

Police were called just after 9 p.m. for a single-vehicle crash in the 700 block of Sojourn Road. Officers learned that Trudeau was allegedly driving under the influence. Trudeau was found and taken into custody. She was taken to the New Lenox Police Department and charged with DUI. She posted bond and was released.

Witnesses reported seeing police searching the area with flashlights, but Alessandrini said it was officers inventorying the vehicle before it was towed.
