'Nude, Agitated' Man Stops Traffic, Punches Door And Window Of Cop Car: NLPD

The incident happened the afternoon of July 2 at Washington Street and Wintree Lane.

NEW LENOX, IL — A Joliet man was charged with public indecency and aggravated assault to a peace officer after a July 2 incident, according to police reports.

Police were called at 3:43 p.m. July 2 to Washington Street and Wintree Lane, for a complaint of a "nude, agitated male" causing both directions of travel to stop, according to reports.

Police on scene activated sirens, and the man—identified as Ricardo Rodriguez, 29, of Joliet—approached the car. Rodriguez "was acting irate and aggressive, and began punching the officer's driver door and window," according to reports.

Another officer arrived and got out of their car. Rodriguez "aggressively approached the officer," reports said, "causing the officer to be apprehensive of being battered by Rodriguez."

Police took Rodriguez into custody. He was cited for public indecency and aggravated assault to a peace officer. Police said he admitted to using crystal methamphetamine.

Rodriguez was cited and taken by ambulance to Silver Cross Hospital. He was released into the hospital's care.
