William Arthur Stonitsch
William Arthur Stonitsch, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at his home in Channahon, Illinois, at the age of 61. He was born on July 4, 1964, in Joliet, the son of Dorothy (nee Rideout) and Richard William Stonitsch. Bill’s educational journey began at Minooka High School, where his early enthusiasm for learning and leadership took root. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Aurora University, followed by a master's degree, demonstrating his lifelong dedication to personal growth and excellence in education.

Bill devoted over three decades to shaping young minds as a teacher at Channahon Junior High School. For 30 years, he inspired countless students not only in the classroom but also on the field, coaching wrestling and baseball for several years of his career. His greatest joy came from spending time with his beloved grandchildren and family, whose lives he enriched with warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support. His generous spirit and lifelong commitment to helping others left a legacy of kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Judith Ann (nee Good) Stonitsch; daughter, Laura Stonitsch; son, Matt (Briana) Stonitsch; his grandchildren, Deklan and Callum Stonitsch; his mother, Dorothy Stonitsch; step-mother, Mary Lou (Michael) Stonitsch Strominger; his siblings, Sheri (Duane) Boyett, Todd (Rebecca) Stonitsch, Kurt (Katie) Stonitsch, Mark Stonitsch, and Mariah Stonitsch. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

He is preceded in death by his father, Richard William Stonitsch.
Bill will be remembered for his outgoing spirit and natural charisma. He held the rare gift of engaging anyone in conversation, making both new acquaintances and old friends feel seen and valued. Whether he was sharing stories with loved ones or lighting up the room with his laughter, he approached life with a vitality that touched everyone around him.
A Memorial Gathering for William Arthur Stonitsch will be held on Saturday November 15, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of Memorial Service at 5:00 p.m. As it was his request, cremation rites have been accorded.
