Sheriff Warns Of Scammers Posing As Will County Jail Officials
The caller claims to be from the jail, saying they have a person's family member in custody. They then demand personal details and payment.
WILL COUNTY — The Will County Sheriff's Office is warning the public of another scam, this time with callers posing as officials from the Will County Jail.
Scammers purporting to be officials from the Will County Adult Detention Facility call people regarding a family member allegedly detained at the jail. They then demand personal information, including Social Security numbers, and request payment for the person’s release.
This is a scam, the sheriff's office reminds the public.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office will never call you to ask for money or sensitive personal information in exchange for releasing someone from custody.
