(Mokena) – St. Mary Catholic School proudly introduced its student leaders during a special Mass. The induction was filled with pride as students were formally welcomed into the St. Mary Student Council. Each new member received certificates, student council pins, and a blessing from Father Joe Gasta, marking the beginning of their leadership journey.
The St. Mary Student Council represents a group of students who will help guide school initiatives, strengthen community spirit, and provide a student voice in shaping school life. Their leadership plays a vital role in encouraging faith, service, and excellence among their peers.
During the ceremony, the 8th Grade Student Council Officers were announced, with each entrusted with their new leadership responsibilities. These officers, alongside junior officers from 6th to 8th grades, will collaborate throughout the year on projects, service opportunities, and community events.
Dr. Michele Engelman, principal of St. Mary Catholic School, praised the new members,
"Leadership at St. Mary is about more than titles, it’s about service. Our Student Council members are chosen because they embody what it means to live out their faith, work together, and inspire others. I am confident they will continue to bring energy and creativity to the St. Mary community this year."
Mrs. Pam Bozzi, Student Council Moderator, also shared “that It is such a privilege to work with these students and see them grow as leaders. The Student Council is made up of bright, caring, and motivated students. I know they will accomplish wonderful things for SMS and beyond."
What sets St. Mary Catholic School apart is its unwavering dedication to fostering a strong sense of community, a commitment to a rigorous education, and a deep-rooted focus on Catholic faith that guides and inspires both students and faculty alike. Our students are encouraged to develop their moral compass and contribute positively to society.
