Village Hall, Library, Schools Closed Wednesday In New Lenox

The closures come as 8 inches of snow blanketed New Lenox Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, with more snow on the way.

NEW LENOX, IL — Village Hall in New Lenox is closed Wednesday as 8 inches of snow fell across the area Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. The Village announced the closure via an email alert to residents and a post on its Facebook page.

Residents in need of assistance can call Public Works at (815) 215-4800.

The New Lenox Public Library District is also closed Wednesday. That announcement was made Tuesday.

Schools in New Lenox also cancelled classes or were using e-learning options Wednesday. Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210 and New Lenox School District 122 were both using e-learning Wednesday, while Providence Catholic High School, Providence Catholic Children's Academy, St. Jude Catholic School and Hopewell Career Academy were all closed.

New Lenox residents are also being reminded that street parking is banned until Village crews have removed all the snow.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker on Tuesday declared a state of emergency ahead of the expected winter storms. Pritzker activated 130 members of the Illinois National Guard to ensure that all state resources are in place to prepare for Winter Storm Landon. Forecasters are saying that certain portions of Illinois could see between 1-2 feet of snow between Tuesday night and Thursday.
