Deadline Tuesday For Fall Soccer Signup
Plus, Maine South and East start school, last days for the pool, blood drive Sunday, and lots more. Plan your week!

- Monday's Morton Grove village board meeting has been cancelled.
- Want your child to play Fall Soccer? Tuesday is the deadline at the Niles Park District.
- Lots of things will be discussed at Tueday's Niles village board meeting: hiring a company to create a Performance Management System for village employees; permitting a zoning variance for the redevelopment of the former grocery store in Four Flaggs Shopping Center; settling the Niles-Glenview water dispute; ordering an engineering review of the Leaning Tower and many other things. There's also an item about a pool dehumidification system at the Niles Family Fitness Center. Dehumidifying a pool sounds counterintuitive, but we'll wait and see.
- This is the last week for the Oasis Fun Center Pool in Niles, which is open 4 to 8 p.m. week days and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 and 2.
- It's also the last week for the Harrer Park Pool in Morton Grove, which is open noon to 8 p.m. Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 and noon to 5 p.m. Labor Day, Sept. 2.
- Maine South and Maine East High School students return to school Monday.
- Friday marks the start of the Labor Day weekend. Woohoo!
- On Sunday, Sept. 1, St. Matthew's Church holds its blood drive.
- Looking ahead: When you bounce back from Labor Day next Tuesday, Sept. 3, be aware that Rosh Hashanah starts super-early this year: on the evening of Weds. Sept. 4. Calendars list the holiday as Sept. 5, but all Jewish holidays start the evening before at sunset.
