Procession Of 100 Semi-Trucks Will Cause 'Significant' Traffic Delays During Snowstorm: Police
The trucks, to be escorted by the Cook County Sheriff's Office Saturday, are destined for the Our Lady of Guadalupe shrine in Des Plaines.
NILES, IL — With a winter storm predicted for Saturday, Niles police are warning residents to be mindful of a planned procession of more than 100 semi-trucks in the area that will result in "significant" traffic delays. Escorted by the Cook County Sheriff's Office, the trucks are destined for the Our Lady of Guadalupe shrine in Des Plaines, and will be in Niles at around 1 p.m.
The trucks will be traveling northbound on Harlem Avenue from the southern border of Niles on Harlem near Devon Avenue, then will turn northbound on Milwaukee Avenue, to travel through the Village of Niles all the way through the northern border at Greenwood Avenue.
Police said there will the traffic delays will occur at all Niles intersections during the procession. Motorists are encouraged to consider using alternate routes during this time to avoid the traffic delay.

A winter storm is set to hit the Chicago area on Saturday, bringing total snow accumulations between 6 and 10 inches, with locally higher amounts possible, the National Weather Service shared.
A winter storm warning has been issued for McHenry, Lake, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, Kendall, Grundy, Kankakee, Cook and Will counties from 3 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday.
